Our Story

STR-8 Jacket was born out of real travel fatigue.

One of the founders is a commercial airline pilot who frequently commutes home after long workdays. Like many travelers—especially when flying in coach—he found there was nowhere to rest his arms comfortably during flights. Around the same time, we were discussing the physical fatigue that often comes with frequent travel, including shoulder tension and upper-body discomfort after long periods of sitting.

The Idea

That conversation sparked a simple but powerful question:

What if a jacket could provide a comfortable place for your arms to rest while seated—without sacrificing mobility, breathability, or everyday wearability?

From there, STR-8 Jacket began.

The Process

We went through five to six prototypes before arriving at the product available today. Along the way, we learned quickly that traditional cotton hoodies were too warm for travel and long flights. We also discovered that an upper pocket alone placed too much pressure on the neck and shoulders when supporting arm weight.

The Breakthrough

The breakthrough came with the introduction of a flexible internal support membrane sewn into the upper portion of the jacket. This design helps distribute the weight of your arms more evenly across the upper body, creating a more natural and comfortable resting position while seated.

The Result

Today’s STR-8 Jacket reflects that process:
A lightweight, breathable, travel-focused jacket designed for comfort during long flights and extended sitting.

Commitment

We’re committed to continuing to refine and improve our designs as we grow, and we appreciate you being part of the STR-8 Jacket journey.
